Dr. Elisa Bonafè
I am a veterinary specialized in anesthesia.
I graduated with honors in 2022 from the University of Pisa.
Even before completing my degree, I developed a strong interest in veterinary anesthesia and began my thesis work under the supervision of Prof. Angela Briganti.
After graduation, I continued my training by obtaining a research fellowship in the Anesthesia Department at the University of Pisa, focusing on hemodynamic monitoring during anesthesia. During this period, I was also involved in tutoring veterinary students and trainees within the anesthesia service. These years allowed me to work closely with PhD candidates, diplomates, and university faculty.
Since 2024, I have collaborated with several veterinary facilities in the Livorno and Emilia Romagna regions.
In 2025, I obtained the RECOVER CPR Rescuer Certification (BLS & ALS), an internationally recognized certification focused on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency management in small animals.
Throughout my career, I have developed a particular interest in the management of both elective and emergency anesthetic procedures, with a specific focus on hemodynamics and locoregional anesthesia. In 2025, I further expanded my training in this field by attending the Zurich Vets Locoregional Anesthesia Masterclass, taught by internationally recognized experts including Prof. Pablo E. Otero (DVM, PhD, ACVAA), Prof. Diego A. Portela (DVM, PhD, DACVAA), and Prof. Regula Bettschart-Wolfensberger (DVM, PhD, ECVAA) at the Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Zurich.
Since 2026, I have been enrolled in the Second-Level Master’s Program in Anesthesia, Analgesia and Intensive Care in Small Animals (8th edition) directed by Prof. Angela Briganti. In the same year, I also attended the Anesthesia Masterclass at the 20th UNISVET National Congress in Bologna as an auditor.
WHY ECOPET?
I strongly believe that being a good veterinarian requires a broad and integrated understanding of the different specialties within veterinary medicine. This perspective arises from collaboration among colleagues, where each professional contributes their own expertise for the benefit of others and, most importantly, for the patients. At Ecopet, I found exactly this opportunity: a platform for sharing knowledge and expertise, contributing to professional growth not only within a single institution but across a much wider community. In addition, Ecopet brings together professionals at every stage of their careers - from students to diplomates - all united by a shared commitment to knowledge and continuous learning. I am very grateful to be part of this project.
